The Postalytics / Marketo Connection
Marketo is a robust marketing automation tool designed to streamline marketing efforts across various channels, sales pipelines, and workflows. Now, with the Postalytics integration, direct mail becomes a powerful addition to your marketing strategies.
In this article, we'll guide you through the process of connecting Postalytics and Marketo. Be prepared to be working both in Marketo and Postalytics during this connection process.
Before Getting Started
There are two Marketo requirements to ensure are in place before beginning the integration process:
- Admin access to your Marketo instance
- A Marketo platform with outside API access
Setting Up Marketo
If you don’t already have an API Access Role, an API Only Access User, and a Custom Service set up, you’ll want to create those. See the following Marketo links for step-by-step instructions on creating each.

- To connect with Postalytics, the API Only User must have at least the following permissions:
- Read-Write Activities
- Read-Write Persons(Leads)
- Read-Write Assets
- To connect with Postalytics, the API Only User must have at least the following permissions:
- Create an API Only User | Adobe Marketo Engage
- Create a Custom Service
Integrate Postalytics with Marketo
Next, navigate to your Postaltics account. From the home page, click the dropdown arrow under your Username and click “Connect”.
Select “Connect App Marketplace” on the Integrations page.
The Connect App Marketplace is a menu with all of the current Postalytics Integration offerings. Click on “Details” under the Marketo icon.
You are now on the specific page for the Marketo integration. Select “Add integration+”
Next, a popup window will appear asking for specific information from your Marketo account.
The Client ID and Client Secret are created from the Custom Service set up, mentioned above. To access this information in Marketo, click “Admin”. Then, in the Integrations area, click “Launchpoint”.
Next, click “View Details” for the Custom Service being used.
Copy and paste the Client ID and Client Secret values into the Postalytics popup page. You will not need the Authorized User or Token.
You’ll also need the Account/Munchkin Rest URL from Marketo. Navigate back to the Admin tab, then select “Web Services” in the Integrations area.
Scroll down to the bottom to find the REST API section.
Here, copy and paste the “Endpoint” URL, excluding /rest at the end of the URL.
For example, if the entire Endpoint URL is https://444-ZZZ-000.mktorest.com/rest, you will only copy and paste https://444-ZZZ-000.mktorest.com
Once all three areas are populated within the Postalytics popup window, click "Next".
On the following screen, you have the opportunity to name your integration and select which, if any, of the Postalytics Event Status notifications you’d like to receive back into Marketo. Click “Next” once completed.
Congratulations! Your Marketo and Postalytics platforms are now connected and you are ready to begin importing lists to send Smart Send Campaigns and triggering data over for Triggered Drip Campaigns.
