What is the Account Level Opt Out Feature?
The Account Level Opt Out Feature expands the existing suppression list functionality, enabling more efficient creation and management of suppression lists. This feature allows mailers to:
Save costs by avoiding mailings to recipients who opt out.
Improve customer experience by respecting recipient preferences.
Increase ROI on campaigns by excluding uninterested recipients.
Assist with compliance of regulations that mandate recipient opt-out options.
Mailing Opt Out Link
Accessing the Opt Out Link
Each Postalytics account and subaccount now includes a "Mail Opt Out" page. This page provides instructions and a unique URL that can be copied and pasted into your Direct Mail (DM) creative. This URL will direct recipients to an opt-out form.
Click on any of the main menu options under your account username, then select “Mail Opt Out” on the left side of the page.
Either click on the link, or the copy/paste icon to copy the link.
Add the Opt Out Link to the Template
Place the link onto your creative template in the Editor using a text box. Adjust font, size, etc using the Editor’s tools.
Proof the template and create your Smart Send, Tiggered Drip, or Automated File campaign.
Opt Out Process
- The recipient accesses the opt out form by typing the URL into a search engine and then filling out the opt-out form.
- The submitted information is added to the Global Account Suppression List (U.S. or Canada) associated with the account. See more information below.
- Addresses are processed through the CASS engine.
- If matched, the CASS version is applied.
- If unmatched, the address is added as entered.
Suppression List Feature
Global Account Suppression Lists
Global Account Suppression Lists (U.S. and Canada) are within all Postalytics accounts and subaccounts. These lists:
Are permanent and cannot be deleted.
Can be accessed via the "View Lists" page.
Are filterable on the View Lists page for easy access.
Automatically populate with addresses from the opt-out form.
To access the lists, click on “View Lists” from the main Lists menu. These two lists will remain at the top of the list library.
Using the Lists filter is another way to view only these lists.
Methods to Add Contacts to Suppression Lists
Manual Entry: Add contacts individually.
Append: Bulk import contacts.
API Integration: Automate contact additions.
List Management
At the list level, each list has an edit, download and append option.
Within the list, contacts can be:
- Added
- Searched for by name or company
- Viewed by valid and invalid records
- Edited
- Deleted
Suppression Logic
The suppression logic operates in the following order:
Postalytics Global Suppression List: Matching addresses are removed.
Global Account Suppression List: Addresses matching this list are removed.
Campaign-Specific Suppression Lists: Additional lists specified in the Campaign Wizard are applied.
This automated background suppression ensures that mailers respect recipient preferences across all campaigns without additional manual steps.
